6th annual Love the Forest Valentine's Concert in 2008

Love the Forest is always a memorable evening of fun with a drawing and great live music for all ages, this year featuring Schiraz, Bill Wells and the Tour Guides. Originally formed by Ron Schaner and Erin Ross, Schiraz blends old and new, from jazz to 60's lounge and folk. Erin's smokey vocals add color and sparkle to Ron's guitar and John Kikagawa's stand-up bass and make a perfect mixture for your listening pleasure.Guitar and vocal virtuoso Bill Welles gently yet powerfully moves his audiences with his beautiful blend of inspiring finger-picking and intimate vocals. From James Taylor to The Supremes, he takes songs where they've never been before, with passion and joy, plus his original material is poignant and magical. The Tour Guides featuring Michela Macfarlane will transport you to another destination, with their renditions of numerous timeless songs. Whether it is bossa nova, rock, country, or jazz, their groove will move you. Michela Macfarlane turns the mundane into the sublime with one turn of phrase. She adds an international flavor with her ability to sing in many languages. Michela is backed up by an eclectic group of local musicians, including Fred Treece on lead guitar, Tim Fay on bass, Sam Nilsen on drums, and Ron Schaner on guitar.

WATER MONITORING

EPFW assists the Upper Mokelumne River Watershed Council with monitoring of water quality on the Tuolumne River Watershed.

The Upper Mokelumne River Watershed Council was originally formed with a state Proposition 204 grant in the spring of 2000. The council originally met on an intermittent basis. Since May of 2003, the group has refocused its efforts on water quality, watershed planning, watershed assessment/restoration, and public outreach and education on the Upper Mokelumne River, Dry Creek, and Upper Calaveras River watersheds. The council meets on a monthly basis. The mission of the council is: To establish a collaborative decision-making body and a forum composed of all parties with a vested interest, including local residents, agricultural, timber and other commercial entities, recreational users, and public agencies. We shall work to restore and maintain the Upper Mokelumne River watershed in a manner that ensures sustainable environmental, economic, educational, cultural, recreational, and water quality benefits for present and future generations.
